The Bassano Beavers recently decided to hire Trevor Carter to our coaching staff. During the interview process, when asked, he failed to disclose any conflicts or ongoing issues that may reflect negatively on him or the organization, both professionally and personally. We did not perform the due diligence required to properly vet Trevor before hiring him. As a result, we made a decision that put the club’s, the community’s, and the league’s reputations at risk. For this, we apologize to our fans.
Upon learning of allegations of fraud in several communities in Alberta, including Drayton Valley, Evansburg, Whitecourt, St. Albert, Edmonton, and Brooks. Ownership and management immediately began an internal investigation.
As a result, we have terminated Trevor’s contract with the club, effective immediately.
The Bassano Beavers aim to maintain the highest integrity and quality for our players and their families, our fans, and the Bassano community. Our short-sighted decision to hire Trevor was a breach of our own mission statement, and for that, we apologize.
